Joanna Ortyl

She is an Assistant Professor in Cracow University of Technology, Faculty of Chemical Engineering and Technology. Her research interests focus on spectroscopy and both pure photochemistry and its applications. The goals of her research are:

  1. Synthesis of new photoinitiators for cationic polymerization processes and study of their effectiveness and efficiency in photopolymerization of coating materials by FPT method, real time FT-IR and Photo-Differential Scanning Calorimetry.
  2. Synthesis of fluorescent compounds for the role of fluorescent probes for cationic photopolymerization and the application of Fluorescence Probe Technology (FPT) for monitoring of the progress of fast processes of photopolymerization.

01.10.2011-31.12.2011- Doctoral research – West Pomeranian University of Technology, Faculty of Technology and Chemical Engineering, Laboratory Adhesives and Adhesive Materials. Supervisor: Prof. dr hab. inż. Zbigniew Czech; Subject: Synthesis of new adhesive photocurable compositions by new cationic initiators.

Joanna has received a number of prestigious awards; she was awarded, during international competitions of inventions and new technologies. For example SPECIAL AWARD for Best Women Inventor at the 40th International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva, Award of the Minister of Science and Higher Education for International Achievements of the Inventive,

She obtained the scholarship of the Minister of Science and Higher Education for outstanding young scientists and also the MAIN PRIZE during the competition Impulse – Foundation for Polish Science, which promotes applied research.
